Guiding Lights
What you see above our local icon, Mt. Rundle, is a short burst at KP9 where these guiding lights were so bright, they illuminated the snow capped peaks like the sun had just set.
If there was ever a sign from the heavens to keep following your dreams, this was it.

Guiding Lights
There are times in life that remind you to keep pursuing your dreams. This night was the very definition of perfect conditions.
The usual aurora chasing nights are full of coffee, interpreting data, waiting for clouds to pass, layering in all the coats you own, group texts, then sadly "calling it quits" just before sunrise. 95% of the time, there's hardly even a green glow on the horizon, even with strong forecasted data.
This night couldn't have been further from the typical experience. It just so happened that the largest solar storm in a quarter century had impacted earths atmosphere and all the elements were about to align. Day turned to night, clouds parted, and what happened next - I may never see again in my career.
You may know the strength index of a solar storm is measured on a KP scale ranging from 1-9. I've captured many aurora nights ranging from KP3 to KP6, even a single rare KP7 show. Well this night was different, very different. Most of the night was spent observing my first ever KP8 storm! What an experience...but it turned out, for a brief period of time, the energy sent from the sun turned the KP index to a number most people have never seen in their lives: KP9!!

The Process Behind Fine Art Aluminum
White Aluminum: All of our pieces are made using a special printing process where ink is heat transferred directly onto a single sheet of white aluminum. We use this aluminum due to the luminescence of the metal surface and guarantee of lasting a century without any fading. The finished product has a brightness, colour vibrancy and clarity that cannot be rivalled with any other printing technique. Each piece also comes with a backing that gives the photo depth and allows it to float elegantly on your wall.
Finish: Each piece is finished with a unique Anti-Reflective coating developed specifically for fine art photography. The anti-reflective finish is perfect for a wide range of lighting situations while still producing a bright and vibrant image. The finish also includes a special UV coating to fully protect the piece from exposure to direct sunlight.
