Castle’s Veil
With the geomagnetic solar storm peaking in 2024, there was no better time to finally capture a composition I had been after for most of my career. The challenge was to have the perfect aurora mirrored in the rarely formed, calm reflecting pool. In previous attempts, I had one of the two elements, but never both on the same night. It wasn't until the largest solar flare to hit earth in 25 years coincided with the perfect water levels of the Bow River, that I had my opportunity.
What a night! In 18 years as a landscape photographer, I had never seen pillars of colour so strong. They danced for hours above the majestic peaks of Castle Mountain.
Whatever goals you may be chasing in life… keep persevering! The reward is 100% worth the effort.

The Process Behind Fine Art Aluminum
White Aluminum: All of our pieces are made using a special printing process where ink is heat transferred directly onto a single sheet of white aluminum. We use this aluminum due to the luminescence of the metal surface and guarantee of lasting a century without any fading. The finished product has a brightness, colour vibrancy and clarity that cannot be rivalled with any other printing technique. Each piece also comes with a backing that gives the photo depth and allows it to float elegantly on your wall.
Finish: Each piece is finished with a unique Anti-Reflective coating developed specifically for fine art photography. The anti-reflective finish is perfect for a wide range of lighting situations while still producing a bright and vibrant image. The finish also includes a special UV coating to fully protect the piece from exposure to direct sunlight.
