Castaway
Castaway is possibly the happiest image I have ever captured: a smiling piggy in the crystal clear waters of the Bahamas.
I met a local with a boat who agreed to transport me to and from the uninhabited island nearby, where hundreds of pigs live freely. A quick 10-minute journey brought me to the white sands of Pig Beach. I spent three days with these piggies and soon learned their personalities. Some were bold and would swim right into the ocean alongside me while others would lazily spend their day sunning in the warm sand.
Rumour has it that once upon a time, a boat transporting pigs capsized during a storm, the pigs broke free and swam to this island where they’ve continued to live freely ever since.
To capture this image, my camera was locked into an underwater housing with a large dome port. The key component to this image is to have half the dome port above the water and half below. This allows a clean waterline through the middle of the image. Spending hours at a time in the water, I was able to capture this exact angle of the piggy where she is notably smiling at me, living her best life!

The Process Behind Fine Art Aluminum

Each piece also comes with a backing that gives the photo depth and allows it to float elegantly on your wall.
Finish: Each piece is finished with a unique Anti-Reflective coating developed specifically for fine art photography. The anti-reflective finish is perfect for a wide range of lighting situations while still producing a bright and vibrant image. The finish also includes a special UV coating to fully protect the piece from exposure to direct sunlight.

How do you hang the aluminum pieces?
All of our pieces come ready to hang with wall bracket mounts or a wire connected to the frame on the back. More information on hanging can be found on our FAQ page.
What does ‘Limited Edition’ mean?
Limited Edition means there will only ever be 200 pieces (any size) produced of Castaway. As the piece sells, the price increases. Once the edition sells out, there will never be another reprint of this photograph.
Can I pick up locally at the gallery?
Absolutely! We always prefer to meet in person and show you how incredible the photos look on the fine art aluminum. You can order online and request a pickup from our Canmore gallery location.
