The Story Behind
Eternally Connected
While following animal trails through the summer, I kept passing a perfect grove of aspen trees, along the 1A Highway, that caught my attention.
Aspens are an incredible species of tree, they are able to withstand an ice age, as they generate roots from deep in the ground. They have the ability to aid each other, as stronger healthier aspens will send chemicals and nutrients to a weaker, or sick aspen trees. They rise and drop water in perfect synchronicity. When there's a fire, aspens have the ability to rapidly reemerge and can produce up to 1,000 new stems per year.
The most incredible fact that always amazes me when I’m walking through an aspen grove, is that they are all interconnected. An Aspen grove is genetically identical, with the largest known grove in Utah, containing 47,000 trees.
The resilience and strength of aspens reminds me that we are all eternally connected, and can find strength in numbers, as the aspens do.
